Sinking Island(Ghoramara)


I took this picture in a sinking island named Ghoramara,West Bengal,India.This island is sinking for almost eight years now due to rise of water level and soil erosion,this island used to be ten kilometers long is now just five kilometers long.Maybe this island is going to disappear in future.

I took this photograph few days back in a nearby ghat of Howrah bridge.To me this frame symbolize a lot of things the daily life,morning activites and the widow old woman's reflection of her past daily activities.This widow old woman also used to bath in this river and soak her clothes just like the woman in the left of the frame is doing.

                                             Activities.

I took this photograph during gangasagar transit camp,Kolkata.The main reason behind this photograph is the mood and different activities going in a same frame by three different people of same community.The person  in extreme right side seems to be anxious about some news which is connected with the person in extreme left talking in phone and the person in the middle of the frame is much more relaxed about the news and smoking weed.
